STOP USING ANY SKIN THINNERS (VITAMIN A, GLYCOLIC ACIDS, EXFOLIATION) ON THE BROW AREA 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT.
ANY WAXING OR BROW SHAPING SHOULD BE DONE AT LEAST 2 DAYS BEFORE.
IF YOU TINT YOUR BROWS, TINT IT AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE PROCEDURE.
COSMETIC BOTOX OR FILLERS SHOULD BE DONE 2 WEEKS PRIOR OR 2 WEEKS AFTER.
DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL, CAFFEINE OR TAKE ANY BLOOD THINNERS (ASPIRIN, IBUPROFEN, NIACIN 48 HOURS BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE, THIS WILL CAUSE EXCESS BLEEDING AND MAY AFFECT YOUR RESULTS).
YOU MAY COME IN WITH HOW YOU NORMALLY DRAW IN YOUR BROWS SO I CAN SEE WHAT YOU ARE USED TO. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR CLIENTS WHO DESIRE A SPECIFIC BROW SHAPE. IF YOU ARE OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, I AM HAPPY TO HELP DESIGN A CUSTOM BROW TO PERSONALLY SUIT YOU.
YOU MAY EXPERIENCE HYPERSENSITIVITY AND MORE PAIN AROUND OR DURING YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE.
WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TATTOO OVER ANY BLEMISHES, SORES, AND MOLES IN OR AROUND THE BROW AREA.
AFTER CARE IS CRUCIAL, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FULL 10 DAY HEALING PERIOD TO ENSURE PROPER HEALING AND COLOR RETENTION. RESULTS WILL VARY FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS AND I CAN NOT GUARANTEE YOUR RESULTS.
*MOST IMPORTANT* KEEP THE AREA DRY AND REFRAIN FROM TOUCHING FOR 7-10 DAYS OR UNTIL THE FLAKING HAS STOPPED.
IF YOU HAVE PETS, KEEP THEM AWAY FROM YOUR FACE WHILE YOU ARE HEALING.
DO NOT PICK AT OR ITCH THE AREA WHILE THERE ARE SCABS REMAINING.
APPLY THE OIL PROVIDED TO YOUR BROWS MORNING AND NIGHT. A VERY SMALL AMOUNT (SIZE OF A PIECE OF RICE) TO EACH BROW WITH A Q-TIP.
OILY SKIN TYPES MAY BE TOLD TO AVOID OIL ALL TOGETHER AND ALLOW A DRY HEAL PROCESS FOR THE 7-10 DAYS.
DO NOT EXPECT YOUR BROW TATTOOS TO HEAL PERFECTLY AFTER THE FIRST SESSION. THIS CAN BE A 2 STEP PROCESS. IT TAKES TIME. BE PATIENT DURING YOUR 10 DAY HEALING PROCESS YOUR BROWS WILL CHANGE AND APPEAR DIFFERENT FROM DAY TO DAY.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE BROWS WILL APPEAR DARKER AND MORE DEFINED AND THIS WILL LAST UP TO 2 WEEKS . YOUR BROW TATTOO CAN APPEAR MORE SOLID, HAIR STROKES MAY SEEM TO DISAPPEAR AND IT MAY LOOK WET AND PAINTED ON.
AROUND DAYS 4-5 YOU WILL EXPERIENCE FLAKING AND YOUR BROWS MAY LOOK DRY. DO NOT PICK YOUR BROWS, LET ANY DRYNESS FALL OFF NATURALLY. IF FLAKES GETS PICKED OFF PREMATURELY MISSING HAIR STOKES WILL RESULT AND CAUSE PATCHY BROWS WHICH CAN LEAD TO SCARRING.
YOUR BROW TATTOO WILL TAKE UP TO 4 WEEKS TO FULLY HEAL. WHEN THE FLAKING COMES OFF THE HAIR STROKES MAY SEEM FAINT THIS IS BECAUSE A FRESH LAYER OF SKIN HAS HEALED OVER THE BROW TATTOO. GIVE YOUR BROWS A FEW WEEKS AND THE HAIR STROKES WILL BECOME CLEARER. COLOR WILL CONTINUE TO CHANGE ON A DAILY BASIS UNTIL ALL HEALING IS COMPLETE AT THE 4 WEEK MARK.
YOU MAY EXPERIENCE ITCHINESS IN THE BROWS AFTER THE 10 DAYS FOR UP TO 2 MONTHS DUE TO THE HEALING PROCESS OF THE DERMAL LAYER.
NOT EVERYONES HAIRSTOKE BROWS CAN HEAL CLEAN AND CRISP. HAIRSTROKES FOR OILIER SKIN TYPES TEND TO HEAL MORE SOLID AND POWDERY WHILE DRIER SKIN TYPES TEND TO HEAL MORE CRISP AND DEFINED. ALSO FOR THOSE WHO BLEED MORE MAY TEND TO NEED MORE TOUCHUPS AS THE BLOOD PUSHES THE PIGMENT OUT WHILE WE TATTOO.
IF YOUR ARTUST IS COVERING/CORRECTING ANOTHER ARTISTS OLD WORK: BE PATIENT AND UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A TASK MOST ARTISTS CHOOSE NOT TO TAKE ON. THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT PIGMENT LINES WERE USED THEREFORE THE METALLIC BASE OF THE PIGMENT LINE IS UNKNOWN. IF THE PREVIOUS ARTIST ISED A BLACK CARBON BASED LINE, WENT TO DARK OR DEEP CAUSING THE COLOR TO FADE GREY THEN MULTIPLE TOUCHUPS/CORRECTIONS MAY BE NEEDED. SOMETIMES ALLOWING THE OLD PIGMENT TO FADE OUT OR HAVING IT REMOVED IS THE BEST OPTION.
My Brows Disappeared
If you have had a Brow MicroPigmentation procedure recently but your results are disappearing, you are not alone. You might have noticed that your brow color has faded as compared to it was right after the procedure. Worry not, because there are several reasons why your brows may disappear after a few days, and understanding the process can help you to identify if your situation is normal or not.
Losing Color After Brow MicroPigmentation Is Normal
Once you have had your brow treatment, your body will start to heal the treated region. The healing process will lead to loss of pigment because your body tries to remove the foreign implantation. In an ideal situation, 85% of the pigment will be retained after the healing process completes at the end of the fourth week. It is important to keep in mind that there is some lightening that will definitely occur.
Most people get worried because right after the procedure their brows are dark but over time their brows get lighter. During the healing process incisions or needle penetration that were made during the procedure are covered by new skin. This gives the pigment a faded look and your eyebrows might look patchy. Therefore, it is important to be patient and work with your PMU artist to get touch-up sessions.
Yes, permanent makeup procedures such as eyebrow Microblading or Nano Brows can disappear. It is important for you to have regular touch-up sessions to maintain your brows. These sessions can help you to keep your eyebrows shaped, colored, and well-defined. Most people require a touch-up session once every 12 to 18 months.
MicroPigmentation Not Lasting Due To Possible Infection
It is also possible that your brows disappeared due to infection. Infections can interfere with the healing process because they will cause the pigment to be forced out of the skin. In case the infection spreads into a larger one it can also cause scarring in the treated skin region. Similarly, if you had an allergic reaction to the pigment, your body can react to it as an infection and force out the pigment. You can mitigate the risk of allergic reactions by ensuring your artist uses high-quality pigments and dyes. You can also have a patch test before going for the full procedure. Remember that iron oxide pigment is the safest while nickel is the most common allergen. In case of infection immediately consult your artist so it does not worsen and the healing process is not interrupted.
Wrong Color Pigment
Before you have your Brow treatment your makeup artist will advise you on the color you should choose. But if the color chosen for the procedure is too light then the final color will fade beyond the desired result.
Poor After-Care
Failing to follow aftercare guidelines can also cause your Brows to fade. The aftercare guidelines are given to protect the treated area from being exposed to elements such as water, beauty products, and medication. It is important to discuss the healing period guidelines. Candi recommends a dry healing method. Make Sure that your brows remain dry, and the ointment you are using is fit for you, also protects your eyebrows from sun exposure. During dry healing you must avoid swimming, saunas and take extra care while in the shower.
Possible Interference
Pulling off scabs or flakes can interfere with the healing process. A prematurely removed scab can also pull off the pigment. This can cause your eyebrows to look like they were before the procedure. Therefore, people who pick scabs should go for wet (use of aquaphore or aftercare oil) healing because it reduces itchiness and keeps them from picking scabs.
Oily Skin
Oily skin does not respond as well to MicroPigmentation procedures because the excess oil pushes the pigment out of the dermis. People with oily skin can expect their brows to have a lighter color. Therefore, you should have a consultation with your PMU artist before having the procedure. If your skin is too oily they will advise you to go for a Nano procedure over Microblading.
Is It Normal That My MicroPigmentation Disappeared After Scabbing?
Commonly known as the ghosting stage, MicroPigmentation can disappear after scabbing. Remember it is a part of the healing process and scabs will take some pigment as they fall off.
You should remain patient because MicroPigmentation disappears after scabbing and it is normal. The pigment will reappear over time as the scabs fall off naturally.
It is important to keep following the aftercare guidelines during this process and after six weeks you can go for an assessment of your brows. If they are still too light you can have a touch-up session.
If you have itching and inflammation in your brow you should contact your doctor because this can be an early sign of an infection.
It is also possible that your pigment might not reappear because your MicroPigmentation was not successful but this happens in rare instances. Here are some reasons for this scenario:
– The incisions were too shallow so the pigment was not able to bind with your skin layer. Therefore your artist will need to make deeper incisions in the touch-up session.
– Repetitive incisions caused your skin to develop keloids, which removed the pigment when they fell off. You will need to have the procedure again once your skin is healed completely.
– Not following proper aftercare guidelines such as not cleaning your eyebrows regularly can make your MicroPigmentation disappear. You should be careful while cleaning the treated brows. If you do not take care then you will have to get the treatment again.
– Using incorrect skincare products can also affect your MicroPigmentation. Retinol and acids can spoil your brows. You should consult your PMU artist before you use certain products.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:
YOUR LIPS CANNOT BE DRY FOR THE APPOINTMENT. IF THEY ARE DRY WE WILL NEED TO RESCHEDULE AND YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR DEPOSIT. YOU MAY EXFOLIATE 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT TO REMOVE ANY DRY SKIN. YOU CAN USE A LIP SCRUB OR CREATE YOUR OWN USING A LITTLE HONEY AND BROWN SUGAR. FOR THE WEEK LEADING UP TO THE APPOINTMENT YOU MUST MOISTURIZE YOUR LIPS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE (I RECOMMEND USING AQUAPHOR).
*IMPORTANT*
COLD SORES ARE A RISK OF LIP BLUSH TATTOO. IF YOU HAVE HAD A COLD SORE IN THE PAST- WE ADVISE YOU TO GO TO THE DOCTOR FOR AN ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION PRIOR TO ANY LIP PROCEDURE, TO HELP AVOID AN OUTBREAK. EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD A COLD SORE BEFORE- I RECOMMEND ALL OF MY CLIENTS TAKE L-LYSINE 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT AND 2 WEEKS FOLLOWING THE APPOINTMENT TO REDUCE THE RISK.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT:
LIPS WILL FEEL SWOLLEN AND VERY DRY AFTER YOUR TREATMENT. APPLY OINTMENT ON LIPS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. THIS SHOULD BE DONE FOR AT LEAST 14 DAYS POST TREATMENT. DO NOT ALLOW LIPS TO BECOME DRY. THIS MAY INTERFERE WITH HEALED COLOR. DURING THE DAY IF LIPS FEEL DRY, APPLY A LIBERAL AMOUNT OF OINTMENT. JUST TAP ON SKIN AND DO NOT RUB IN.
THE FIRST 5 DAYS ARE THE MOST INTENSE. DURING THIS TIME BE CAREFUL NOT TO EAT OR DRINK TEMPERATURE HOT FOODS OR BEVERAGES AS THEY MAY CAUSE BLISTERING TO OCCURE. AVOID SPICEY OR ACIDIC FOODS AND BEVERAGES SUCH AS ORANGE JUICE OR PASTA SAUCE. THIS MAY CAUSE AN UNCOMFORTABLE BURNING OR STINGING SENSATION.
ALWAYS USE A CLEAN Q-TIP, NOT FINGERS TO APPLY OINTMENT TO THE LIPS AREA. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INFECTION.
AFTER LIPS ARE NO LONGER TENDER TO THE TOUCH THEY MAY BECOME FLAKY. THIS IS NORMAL AND IS EXPECTED. PLEASE DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH AT THEM. THIS MAY SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE AMOUNT PIGMENT ABSORPTION. AVOID THE SUN AND TANNING BEDS PRE AND POST PROCEDURE. BE SURE TO USE A SUN BLOCK ONCE LIPS ARE HEALED. DO NOT USE ANY GLYCOLIC, HYDROXY OR FRUIT ACID PRODUCTS ON LIPS. AVOID DIRECT WATER PRESSURE, POOLS AND OTHER BODIES OF WATER, UNTIL HEALED. YOU CAN RESUME WEARING LIPSTICK ONCE LIPS ARE HEALED. REDNESS, SWELLING, TENDERNESS, DRYNESS ARE ALL COMMON POST TREATMENT SIDE EFFECTS AND WILL DISSIPATE IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. AVOID OILY, SALTY, ACIDIC FOODS AND ALCOHOL WHILE HEALING.
LIPS ARE A MUSCLE AND MAY REQUIRE A TOUCH-UP SESSION TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS OF THIS PROCEDURE. LIPS ARE UNPREDICTABLE. SOME CLIENTS WILL YIELD VERY STRONG HEALED LIP COLOR. OTHERS WILL ONLY HEAL WITH SLIGHT COLOR UPTAKE. THIS WILL VARY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. CLIENTS WITH SUN DAMAGE, SCAR TISSUE (FROM INJURY OR FEVER BLISTERS) AND CLIENTS WITH IMPLANTS MAY NOT HAVE STRONG RESULTS. HYPERPIGMENTATION CAN HAPPEN ON ANY LIP CLIENT WITHOUT WARNING. IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF FEVER BLISTERS, COLD SORES OR CHICKEN POX, WE ADVISE YOU TO GO TO THE DOCTOR OR FOR AN ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION PRIOR TO ANY LIP PROCEDURE, TO HELP AVOID AN OUTBREAK. FOLLOW ALL BEFORE AND AFTER INSTRUCTIONS AFTER ALL LIP TREATMENTS. LIP RETOUCH MUST BE SCHEDULED 30 TO 45 DAYS APART FROM INITIAL SEASON TO HELP WITH COLOR RETENTION.
LIPS HEAL IN THREE STAGES: TOO DARK – TOO LIGHT – JUST RIGHT. THIS TAKES ONE MONTH TO HAPPEN. PLEASE AVOID ANY FRICTION TO LIP AREA.
YOUR SKIN WILL BE TEMPORARILY SENSITIZED AFTER THE TREATMENT AND YOU SHOULD ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE NEXT 10 DAYS.
THIS WILL HELP AVOID INFECTION AND ALLOW TIME FOR THE SKIN TO RECOVER.
IF YOU APPLY MAKEUP DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR TREATMENT, YOU DO SO ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
HEALING CAN TAKE UP TO 10 DAYS AND IT IS PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR SMALL SCABBING TO APPEAR ON THE TREATED AREA. THESE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO FALL OFF NATURALLY OVER A PERIOD OF A FEW DAYS.
AFTER THE TREATMENT; IT IS ALSO NORMAL FOR THERE TO BE FADING OF THE COLOR DURING THE FIRST 2 WEEKS AND PATCHY SECTIONS, AS THE SKIN IS STILL HEALING AND THE PIGMENT WILL RETURN TO THE SURFACE IN ABOUT 30 DAYS.
FOR LASH-LINE ENHANCEMENT THE OUTCOME WILL BE SUBTLE. THIS IS NOT EYELINER TATTOO, IT IS EYELASH ENHANCEMENT. A SOFT SHADOWED ENHANCEMENT TO YOUR LASH LINE TO CREATE THE ILLUSION OF FULLER LASHES. THIS WILL NOT REPLACE THE USE OF EYELINER BUT INSTEAD GIVE YOU A NATURAL EYE ENHANCEMENT.

When taken proper care of, Microblading & Powder Brows can last 1-3 years. Most of Candi’s clients choose to maintain the procedure by keeping up with touch ups every 12-18 months as opposed to waiting for complete fade out. Please note that cosmetic tattooing may fade out more quickly on clients who have oily skin, T zones, are on certain medications as well as clients that are iron deficient. Anti aging creams that contain Retinol or Hyaluronic Acid also can cause Cosmetic tattooing to fade out more quickly. It’s advised that you know what ingredients are in the face products that you use and are careful not to use them over the tattooed areas. In these cases a touch up price is typically offered saving the client time, money and ensuring that the tattooed area continues looking fresh. Please note that Candi is not responsible for how soon fade out may occur. Fade out differs from client to client depending on various lifestyles, medications, skin issues or face creams. Candi has no way of knowing what your day to day lifestyle is, therefore is not responsible for fade out once the tattoo process has been completed.
It is not recommended that people with red dye allergies or people that are prone to keloids get any cosmetic tattoo procedure done.
Proper home care is necessary to maintain and extend the life of the area that has been cosmetically tattooed.
